GEOTHERMAL RESIDENTIAL: HOW IT WORKS

Geothermal technology is very much the unsung hero when it comes to renewable energy; what about a direct replacement for oil and gas?

That’s where Geothermal provides a complete solution for your heating and cooling needs. Geothermal energy provides a green, economical solution to eliminate your gas or oil bills. This is accomplished by circulating an environmentally friendly fluid through a series of underground pipes, utilizing the earth’s energy to heat and cool your home or business.

The most basic principle behind geothermal heating and cooling is that it is cheaper to move energy rather than create it.

There are two main types of geothermal systems: vertical and horizontal. As shown directly below, vertical and horizontal loop systems are site specific; they are customized to conveniently fit the needs of your property.

Eastern Energy Systems has made the decision to only install closed loops geothermal units for residential properties.

The aquifers, which provide a lot of our drinking water, can be polluted by drilling holes for open loop systems. Open Loops are water quality dependent, so they are susceptible to cause…

Scaling: in which mineral deposits on the inside of the heat exchanger in the geothermal units require regular maintenance to de-scale the Geo unit.
Corrosion: to the open loop pump and the heat exchanger on the geothermal unit
Bacteria & Well-fouling: eventually clogs up the inlet and outlet open loop well resulting in the re-drilling of the wells.
Water Disposal from the Rejection well: causes flooding because the excess water will not permeate the soil on your property. This is tightly regulated by the National Groundwater Association.
Permits & Water Rights: A possible disruption to residential and commercial properties in the vicinity of your area.
Unknown long term damage to the local eco-system by drilling.

We take away all of these risks by doing a closed loop geothermal system.
